Winner, Best in Fest, Covellite International Film Festival!!
The Covellite International Film Festival was quite a thing. On the final night of the festival, there was an awards ceremony, as is typical of film festivals. I had been told by one of the organizers earlier in the day that it would be good to make sure that I came to the ceremony, so I went into it thinking that it was possible that Parallel Love might win one of the documentary awards. But when Best Doc, Best Editing in a Doc, and Best Cinematography in a Doc were all awarded to other films, I realized that I must be mistaken. Imagine my surprise then, when the final, top prize of the festival was announced and the winner was Parallel Love! “Best of Fest”. I was handed the award by 3 Zulu princes, too, for some reason.
Many thanks to Brian Boyd and Don Andrews, who put on a great festival, and thanks to the judges, who were kind enough to honor this film and the music and story of Luxury. Thanks also to Scott Lansing, my co-editor, who was on hand to help me collect the prize. It’s heavier than it looks.
